We’re excited to share that Glen Iris Estate will soon be home to its very own neighbourhood shopping centre, to be known as Glen Iris Local. Located at the new entrance of the estate the new shops will place everyday convenience just a short stroll or drive away for new and existing residents.
Planned to open by spring 2026, this new hub will be located on Berrigan Drive, transforming the area into a vibrant destination for locals to shop, gather, and connect. From essential services to fresh coffee and everything in between, the centre is being designed with the needs of the Glen Iris community in mind.
Over the next year, the land will be transformed into a buzzing local hub that will offer much more than just a place to shop. At the heart of the new centre will be a 7-day IGA supermarket, open from 7am to 9pm, and a family-friendly bistro tavern.
In addition to the supermarket and bistro tavern, the centre will feature:
• A health and wellness centre
• Two specialty retail stores
• A liquor store
• Three food and beverage outlets
The new centre has been carefully designed with community in mind, featuring a beautifully landscaped central piazza offering a welcoming space to catch up with neighbours, grab a coffee, and chat about all the local news. There’ll also be more shaded seating with timber benches on the corner of Abundant Boulevard and Plateau Crescent.
Getting there will be easy too—with over 100 parking bays on-site and thoughtful connections to pedestrian pathways from linking throughout Glen Iris Estate for an easy stroll to the local shops and cafes.
The current roadworks along Berrigan Drive near Turnbury Park Drive is all part of the integrated plan for better and safer journeys in and out of Glen Iris Estate. New traffic lights are being installed to improve traffic flow and ensure safe access to the shopping centre and the Glen Iris community beyond. These upgrades are expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
This new Glen Iris Local precinct is set to become a vibrant meeting place for the Glen Iris community and we can’t wait to welcome you there.
